What does it mean to have look ahead tasks connected to the master schedule?

This is game changer. The connection is created by having look ahead tasks always stay connected to their respective master plan activities even when logic is changed in the master plan level or a master plan activity is shifted in the calendar. Look ahead data will keep its structure and change its start and finish dates to mirror the changes at the master plan level.

How do changes to my look ahead affect my master plan?

There are two ways to change data on your master schedule from the lookahead module. One is through progressing your lookahead activities. Outbuild will take the weighted average of that progress and reflect it in your master plan. The other way to change data is by submitting a modification request for more or less time at the lookahead level in Outbuild. Plan administrators will see these modification request tickets in the master plan and will have the option to preview, accept, or reject the request.

Can I choose the range of my look ahead?

Yes you can. By default there are options that go from 2 to 8 weeks, or you can choose to see a specific date range or your entire master plan schedule.

Can I involve my subcontractors or trade partners into look ahead planning?

That’s exactly what it is built for! Outbuild allows you to have unlimited users so all key stakeholders on the project can be involved in collaborative planning. All the while, our robust security and permissions features only allow the right players access to their relevant information; keeping your project schedule secure.

Is there logic ties at the look ahead level of Outbuild?

No they are not and that is on purpose. Not having logic ties at the short interval level of planning allows for far more adaptability and agility when executing a specific phase of work. Logic is however used to drive major schedule phases at the master plan level.

When you progress a look ahead task, does it automatically update the master schedule?

Yes it does. No more having to transfer that data from an excel document or a conversation with your field team. They can progress their respective tasks on their own in the lookahead and the weighted average of that progress is already calculated at the master plan level for you.

Which type of files can be exported from the look ahead module?

You can export your lookahead as a PDF file and Excel document.

Can I use Outbuild’s planning software module for pull planning?

Yes! With Outbuild's planning software module you can give access to multiple users to add theirs tasks, responsible, company and crew size. During your planning session you can then easily see the milestones and perform a pull plan from the last day and pulling back. With the bar charts colored by company color, everyone can easily see their tasks and provide feedback on the best sequence of work. Once the pull plan is complete, you can commit the following week to start tracking PPC and Reason for Variances.
